Just Curious...

After a quick sweep through this forum, it seems that RPs are pretty much disliked by most of you. I can partially agree, especially after seeing much of the garbage now filling up the FTT forums (and other sites I've been to).

When doing RPs myself, it's usual no more than a way for more to practice my own writing skills and creativity, but doing so in many of the typical fashions gets old and annoying.

If given the chance, would anyone wish to try one that was unique, rule-bound (so it actually stays, ya know, FUN), and typically non-stupid?


Or will I simply get bashed by everyone for even suggesting such a thing? =p

The Characters forums just really pissed and creeped me off...

Regular Rping I'm fine with, Just as long as the shit I mentioned above doesn't happen....

Oh. Well, I consider those things to be like, "Light RP", as opposed to like more structured RP and stuff. I barely make sense anymore.

I want to finish that Project ANGEL RP. We never finished it. Not here, and not with my friends. :S Though at least withour friends we got as far as the city of Los Angeles. XP

Id say leave the RPs from Forums and do it in MSN or other chat programs.

They seem to work better in Forums (IF everyone is intelligent enough...), since you have a better chance to actually plan out everything (and not everyone can be on at the same time with IMs).

Actually, in AIM you can make a chatroom and invite people to it.

You're a little TOO spontanious at times...tone down the randomness...besides, being spontanious doesn't always mean fun.

I'm generally a fan of RPing...but, honestly, there've been very few RPs that have perked my interest of late. RPs...especially long-running ones, which board RPs are more likely to be...really do depend on the various players working around a common idea of what they want out of the RP. Otherwise, everyone ends up frustrated and annoyed, whether it's from slow or short posting, ignoring certain characters, or whatever else have you.

So...I'm somewhat hesitant about hopping into an RP, nowadays. Still, if they popped up, on the board, at least...I'm not really up for chat RPs...I'd consider it.

If you want to start RPing, I agree with Costa: Leave it out of the forums. Or, to be more precise, THESE forums.

If you guys want to RP badly, I'd suggest creating a realm in the Venura system. Designed specifically for RPing, each user has the option to create characters under his name, which he can then use to post as, and in this way can have several characters interact together without having both post under his own name. It gives the characters more substance. And since each realm could be considered a kingdom, the boards can be split up into areas, and with the kind of identity Venura can provide, you can have characters seamlessly go from one thread to the next, in according to where they are in the kingdom...

To show an example of this, if you have a mind for reading, you can look at the Evermore Archives for examples of where people have entered and left threads, seemingly at random. Take for example my character Gaxon... I do not recall what he was doing, attempting to assasinate Vintilin or why he's looking for Rydia, but he's jumped around the threads a fair ammount... Venura's, and Evermore's beauty comes from how it isn't constrained by any set parameters (well, other than the necessary rules, and yes, I do admit to making Gaxon into a Mary-Sue... which is why he's left to the task of henchman mostly...) and the characters are free to interact, in fact it's encouraged to have multiple characters that develop over years of use...

That is the kind of RPing I'm used to, having characters that are constantly used and reused... it was in Evermore that my seed was planted, and it has been growing for over five years now, through good the good weather and the bad.

P.S. If anyone is wondering if you've taken a look at my account there and my characters, I created the character Vash before I knew of Trigun... it was two years ago I discovered Trigun in its entirety...

Erg, I dunno. I don't (personally) really like the style of those forums, and most of my RPs are meant to be made specifically FOR creating new characters, and seeing what you can do with them (tis more fun to keep creating and experimenting =D ).

Exactly, which is why would need good, solid rules and some sort of RP Mod to banish those that try to be stupid like that. =p
